Monthly Swim in Baltimore

Has anyone here attended one of them before??? I have been planning on attending for the past year, but the events always happened on my weekends on at work, or during a car show. I will probably be going to the one in January.

From one of the various MARNA groups on facebook:

Maryland's growing Clothes Free Community is "Taking Off" by "Taking It Off!". All winter! Our pool parties will continue at least once a month through May 2010 when we head back outdoors to our other facilities!

Join Families, Couples, singles, students, grads, and young professionals, and visitors from across the country to join us. We DO welcome single adults and do our best to maintain a reasonable gender ratio.

Theres swimming, volleyball, to start!

We also feature a large social hall that's available for clothing optional yoga, dancing or aerobics, on your own! We also welcome artists and art students to come and sketch nudes (with consent).

Admission to party:
Single adult over 31: $25

Single student with College ID AND all ages 18-30 : $20 (theres four college nudist chapters starting in our area and growing!)

Couples/Families: $ 40 -

Vendors: $40 , includes 2 adult admissions and one table ; got a product or service to sell, come join us!

Interested in prepaying? Send a check for $10 made out to Maryland Area Naturist Association , POB 220 Linthicum Maryland 21090. This will be deducted, of course, from your admission.

Bring extra cash or check and join or renew your AANR or TNS membership though us...YOUR BALTIMORE CLUB!

We're a travel club! We rent fine facilities to host our events and appreciate your support to plan other events such as nude bowling, nude hikes, and road trips to great Community events nude and clothed! We can use volunteers to help!

LODGING: WE have several solutions for you. Affordable hotels within a close driving range or a short Metro / Light Rail ride away. You can also try Baltimore City very own Hostel!

EVENT Rules

1. Have fun! Remember that yes, we're nudists but we're also CLOTHING OPTIONAL, though most attendees opt to be completely nude at all times at our events, it is NOT required. Dress or disrobe at your own pace.

2. Members and guests must register at the door upon arrival, pay applicable fees and if asked for any reason, show proper identification. Management has the right to refuse entrance or a membership to anyone.

3. Everyone is expected to show respect for personal property and other people's feelings. Harassment OF ANY KIND (including being overly forward or pushy ), will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave.

4. Glass bottles, glass containers or drinking glasses, absolutely prohibited.

5. Please bring a towel to sit on and sit on your own towel.

6. Absolutely no cameras; No photography of any kind is allowed. Anyone caught with a camera will be asked to leave.

8. The Swim Club, its owners, staff and operators of the party are not responsible for lost or stolen belongings. Please do not bring valuables to the party.

9. Smoking is prohibited in the building. Use the outside patio

The wife and I are headed to the swim this weekend (as long as she gets over her cold by then!).  It's in the afternoon on Saturday.

The date for this swim is again Jan 9 1-5PM and there is another swim also scheduled in Jan but in the evening the dat for that one is Jan. 23. also the Feb and March dates both fall on the 20 of the month all these swims for the exception of Jan 9 are in the evening.

I've been wondering about this group, they just announced a few swims closer to DC starting in February. I'd really like to hear a report about how the events are.

The wife and I made the trip down for this swim to meet up with a couple we know.  It was...rustic.  Very very rustic.  When we heard about an indoor pool, we kind of imagined some of the swim clubs we were familiar with from our youth.  It was not.  At least this location was very poorly heated and the pool needed a ton of work.  There was a lot of mold in the grout of the tiles and even the water level was below the intakes for the filter!  It seemed almost as if they had closed the pool for the winter and reopened it the day before just for the swim.  The crowd also definately skewed a bit to the single male side of things, even more than we had expected.

The organizer said that their other swims will be at a much nicer location, but I doubt we'll be taking the 2 hour drive again to check it out unless we hear from someone else that it was really nice and really fun there.

Ah, I've been told tales of the previous location. Actually, the roof of that place reportedly fell in in the early winter months, and so it's currently closed for the season. As such, the swims have been strictly held at the Elkridge location, and I can assure you, it's very well-kept. It's a local gym, so the pool isn't very large, but passable. They also have a very nice jacuzzi, a sauna in each locker room, and a slew of exercise equipment available.

I've been to 3 of the swims so far, one of them just last Sat. The folks who work there and those who attend are pretty easy to talk to. There are a majority of older men there, but at each swim I've been to there have also been some women and young adults. There's only one family I've seen there so far, but having even a few kids there definitely sets a good atmosphere. Their dad is also a massage therapist, and while I'm not a fan of being massaged myself, he provides a good service at the swims. They also have dinner for $5, usually from a catering company who comes and serves up hot food, as well as a nudist DJ with a pretty nice system. The only complaint I have is that besides the swimming, gym equipment and general socializing, there's not very many activities happening there, but I suppose even a pack of cards would help with that, which is what I'll bring to the next swim.

There is another type of event coming up: nude bowling in Baltimore. That'll be Sat. 22 starting at 12:30, and the swim will also be held Sun. night instead of Sat. All in all, I've found to be a very good introduction for me and nude socializing.
